We bring you a great playlist to welcome in the first month of the New Year and to celebrate the start of our 8th annual season on IPR. In fact, we’ve been around a tad longer; BlueNotes began as an occasional jazz special on IPR back in 2015. Featured musicians this time include Horace Silver, Jamie Cullum, Nnenna Freelon, Mark Colby & Frank Caruso and Monica Mancini.
Plus, stay tuned until the end to hear an excerpt of a special live performance of the Tucker Brothers Group playing at the 2021 Ouibache Music Festival, which originally aired on IPR’s program The Scene on November 9, 2021.
Original Airdate on Saturday, January 28, at 8pm.
It’s February and that means it’s time for our annual salute to bands and vocalists of the Swing Years. Tune in this month for a wonderful playlist of well-known and some of the lesser known bands of the era; from Benny Goodman to Benny Carter, Margaret Whiting to Frank Sinatra. And, we’ll hear a number of rare recordings of songs written exclusively for the war effort during World War 2.
That’s Saturday, February 25th, at 8pm, only on Indiana Public Radio.
A cam for to make visioning of a cat room.
Note: For now, you may need to directly access the stream server here and accept the security certificate first before you can see this video feed. You should only have to do this the first time per session though. Or whatever.

March is National Women’s History Month and BlueNotes joins the observation tonight with a salute to the Great Women of American Jazz. Over these two hours, Larry will be featuring the pioneers who paved the way for women in jazz as well as today’s contemporary women who continue to push for recognition of women in an art form that still favors men.
That’s Saturday, March 25th, at 8pm, only on Indiana Public Radio.
